She knew the original Brewster Family homestead located at the entrance to the Canadian Rocky Mountains, along the shores of the Bow River, was the perfect location to continue her family’s guest ranching tradition.

Today that spectacular mountain setting remains and guests can still experience the Brewster family tradition of western hospitality.

The Kananaskis Guest Ranch is a great place to gather groups for any occasion. From business to pleasure, our all-inclusive packages include: Weddings, Reunions, Corporate Events, Private Rodeos and, the family specialty, Western Barbecues held in the famed ‘Donut’ tent.

John Brewster established his homestead at the base of Yamnuska Mountain, after moving to Alberta from Ontario in 1886. Today this family homestead is the home of Kananaskis Ranch.

A unique group of companies now operate in Banff National Park, Lake Louise and Kananaskis more than a century after John's sons, aged 10 and 12, took their first guests on a horse pack trip. He would be pleased knowing his fifth and sixth generation family members today make up the Brewster family group of companies.
